2016 UPDATE: We have added "Gender-bent Cosplay" Categories! In the tradition of such classic movies as Big Momma’s House and Tootsie, Gen Con is proud to present its 2nd Annual Crossplay Costume Contest. Crossplay (a mix of “cross dressing” and “cosplay”) has always been a popular part of convention costume culture where attendees create and wear a costume featuring a character opposite of his/her gender. Our event is part costume contest and part RuPaul’s Drag Race - so it’s as much fun for attendees as it is for those competing. Complete rules are available online.

We divide the audience up into team which work together to come out on top in boisterous creative activities which have ranged from running a character in a RPG to trying to win a game show. Here are some samples of play by mob themes from year's past: Dresden Files RPG, Deathwatch RPG, Space Cadets, Pub Games, & Gamer Feud.
RPG's are evil! Or so says the famous 1984 anti-D&D comic, Dark Dungeons. Faithfully true to the comic Dark Dungeons we'll show just how evil RPG's can be!
