Description:
"No empire springs into being fully-formed. Their genealogies are as messy as their modes of operation."
- Cole Wehrle
History is so often presented in broad strokes. The battles, the wars, the treaties, the laws, the deals, the crimes. Names get attached to these events, known as the movers of history. The Hastings, the Larkins, the Paxtons. Behind these names are a multitude of interwoven stories that become the true fabric of history. It often takes digging through the archives to understand just how important those stories are.
John Company Second Edition from Wehrlegig Games, is one of the most poignant reflections on the means and motivations of colonial expansion in the 18th and 19th Century using the family as a lens. With The Company Archives, Non-Breaking Space digs deeper into the games argument, through an RPG experience layered on top of the boardgame play.
Watch Matt Forbeck and family continue their tradition of playing Munchkin at Gen Con in honor of departed Munchkin Czar Andrew Hackard. Proceeds go to the Diana Jones Award Emerging Designer Program.
Description:
Starting at Gen Con 2011, Andrew Hackard hosted a game of Munchkin for Matt Forbeck and his kids at the Steve Jackson Games booth every Sunday at noon. They kept this tradition up until he passed away in 2021 after a valiant struggle with glioblastoma (an inoperable brain tumor), and they played it in his honor at the memorial his family held at Gen Con in September of that year. Watch as Matt and his kids play Munchkin again in Andrews honor. Any proceeds/donations go to the Diana Jones Award Emerging Designer Program, and we hope to have audience prizes donated by Steve Jackson Games.
