Characters can die before they even start adventuring. But maybe you'll survive! Or maybe you'll die trying. Try your luck with the designer, Marc Miller.
Description:
Characters in Traveller can die before they even start adventuring. Can you survive Character Generation? Generate your own Traveller character: your decisions determine skills, and equipment you get as you prepare for a life of interstellar adventure. Maybe you’ll even get a starship! Or just maybe you’ll die trying. Every participant generates a Traveller Form 1: we’ll provide the blank form, full instructions, and even a pair of Traveller Dice (which you get to keep). Die rolls (and your choices) determine the success or failure of this Prior Career, and it all shapes just who your character is. Characters get benefits as well: money, equipment, maybe even a starship; they come as randomly drawn benefit cards during the process. Finally, you’ll have a completed Character Card Traveller Form 1 to prove your character survived (or died) and a pair of special Traveller dice.

You are the Paragon Crew, a dangerous crew of misfits given the chance to do the right thing to get out of the worst prison in the Core. Accepting the mission was easy. Surviving? Not so much.
Description:
You are the Paragon Crew. It's a nice (and sardonically inaccurate) name for the most motley, mismatched, sorry collection of hard-core criminals to be found Spinward of the Beyond. But you've been given a chance to do the right thing. Wasn't really much of a choice. Yeah, you are funded by some unknown benefactor whose credit smells sickeningly of Imperium Intelligence ops -- but you can either do this or spend your days rotting on Malfax Station, a lovely combination of waste reprocessing facility and prison. Deciding to go on their little field trip to Palindrome, one of the roughest independent (i.e. criminal) settlements in the Spinward Arm. Saying yes to the mission was the easy part -- surviving it, well, that's the real trick, ain't it?

For years pirates and warlords have plagued the shipping lanes of the Moran Sea. Recently the pirates have been bolder with increased raids and hijackings in the region.
