Long Description:
2038 is a space exploration and mining game based on the 18xx concept of corporate ownership. Players can purchase shares in various mining companies, with the majority holder running the company's mining operations. Additional strategies include running small independent mining companies or banding independents together to form a cartel. Unlike the 18xx games, there is a small element of randomness that comes through the exploration of space, as resources are randomly uncovered during the placement of new hexes. However, the bulk of the game is strategic and the outcome is based almost entirely on player decisions. Like most 18xx games, it has a long playtime of 5-8 hours, stretching out particularly when new players are involved.
