Just past the edge of flat field, town, or pasture, the woods hide cliff & ravine, rock shelter, tor, wood or stone maze, waterfall or spring refuge. A GM/geologist helps spice up lowland terrain.
Long Description:
Seemingly blasé temperate lowlands are the places that host large settled populations, yet extreme, inspiring landscape scenes need not be far away. Woods that were never cleared, likely cover rough, challenging terrain that no farmer or engineer ever wanted to deal with! Will your story characters find a kettle bog, box canyon, log network, fluted terrain, or boulder array? We will view and discuss memorable real-world sites ready to drop into your adventures – some from ‘boring’ northern Indiana and Illinois! This session may be of interest to RPG GMs, writers (any genre), and game designers.
