18th century France is not a common era for a show from Japan, but that is exactly where Production I.G.'s (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex) most recent anime to be brought to the US is set. Versailles is on the verge of revolt and all sorts of spies haunt the kingdom. When his sister is mysteriously killed, D'Eon de Beaumont - a member of the King's secret police, uncovers a conspiracy that spans the continent and extends deeper into France than anyone could have imagined. Becoming quite literally the vessel for his sister's revenge, D'Eon and his allies must challenge the occult forces of the Comte de Saint Germaine. The story is loosely based on the true story of a French spy/diplomat whose exploits spanned several countries - and genders.
