Vie for title of Grand Prince of Kiev in Rurik's masterful blend of worker placement, area control, and unique action programming mechanics. Medium weight. Typically lasts around 2 hours. All welcome!
Description:
In Rurik: Dawn of Kiev, players are trying to earn the most Victory Points. To do so, players pursue a variety of paths to victory: ruling regions on the map, building structures in adjacent regions, collecting goods for trade, battling rebels or other players, etc. The game is played over 4 rounds, three phases per round. In the first phase, players put out their Advisers using a unique action programming mechanic that both sets this game apart from similar titles and adds a layer of strategy to the following phases. In phase 2, players perform their actions on the main board as they ordered them in phase 1, building structures, collecting goods, and fighting over regions. In phase 3, players mark their progress on different tracks, gain income, and select Deed cards that may provide VP and additional actions on future turns.
