Join Summer for a lesson in beginner POI spinning. Students will be provided with soft practice POI to keep! This is a standing class in a fun environment.
Description:
Poi is the Maori term for ball, and used in performance art. While storytelling or dancing, performers rhythmically swing weighted apparatus around their bodies and as extensions of their arms. The use of poi improves strength and flexibility in the arms, and is very helpful for movement and coordination. Expect to laugh a lot, learn skills and movements, and an occasional bonk, because we are swinging things around our body. This is a physically active class, so keep that in mind, but it doesn’t necessarily require coordination - we can work with that! All skill levels are welcome, but I will focus my time with the beginners.

Designed to have the worst personality flaws of all characters come to the forefront in short succession. The characters are all Air Force "misfits," sent to what they think will be the worst, most boring possible assignment in a defunct base after numerous infractions. Unfortunately, their night playing poker will not go well. TRIGGER WARNINGS: Kleptomania, alcoholism, gambling; an alien presence that may or may not be necessary to kill; POSSIBLE SANITY LOSS TRIGGERS: murderous paranoia, mutiny against superior officers, catatonia, arson and/or self-immolation.
The only good thing at Platte AFB is Poker Night on Saturdays. That is until an unmarked van rolls up, guards in bizarre metal helmets get out, & things take a turn for the bizarre…& the deadly.
