Description:
Enjoy a guided historic tour (includes 1.5 round trip downtown walk) of Indianapolis City Market's Catacombs. Once at the Market, your historic tour will take you underneath the City Market to the Catacombs. Our Catacombs don’t have bones or crypts, but feature scores of brick barrel-vaulted arches and are the Roman-looking underground remains of Tomlinson Hall, built in 1886 and destroyed by fire in 1958. Please note that the Catacombs feature a damp basement environment and a rough uneven dirt floor. The tour is not navigable for guests with walkers, canes, strollers, or wheelchairs, and the Catacombs are not handicapped accessible. Closed-toed shoes are required, and guests will be required to sign a waiver of liability.
Indianapolis Shakespeare Company presents CORIOLANUS
Summary:
Enjoy a lovely evening in White River State Park, just a few minutes from the Convention Center, watching a professional outdoor production of one of Shakespeare's lesser produced plays.
Description:
Coriolanus is an intriguing political thriller for times past, present, and future. Set in Ancient Rome and written in the early 1600s, the play has readily reflected the contemporary political climate of each of its professional productions. And it will do so once again for Indianapolis audiences in summer 2018. Shakespeare’s unerring instinct to tap into what matters to us, what we value, and what we are willing to fight for, shines brightly in Coriolanus. But Shakespeare does not take sides─he asks us to decide which causes call our name, and who and what we want our leaders to be.
Come early for pre-show entertainment starting at 6 PM. You can bring food and drink, or get nourishment from on-site food trucks. Don't worry if you have no blanket or chairs--there are chairs to borrow at the park!
