Players take on the role of European explorers in the 19th century as they explore the interior of the Dark Continent! The seek fame and fortune as they face animal attacks, hostile natives, dangerous river cataracts, starvation, and disease. Each must make some significant discovery and return to England where they present or publish their works to get more funding for further expeditions.
