Join Summer for a lesson in beginner POI spinning. Students will be provided with soft practice POI to KEEP! This is a standing class in a fun environment.
Description:
Poi is the Maori term for ball, and used in performance art. While storytelling or dancing, performers rhythmically swings weighted apparatus around their bodies and as extensions of their arms. The use of poi improves strength and plasticity in the arms and hands and makes useful for coordination. Expect to laugh a lot, learn skills and movements, and an occasional bonk, because we are swinging things around our body. :) This is a physically active class, so keep that in mind, but it doesn’t necessarily require coordination - we can work with that! ;) If there is time at the end of class, students will get to demonstrate a skill using the instructor’s set of LED poi.
