In NYC's Chinatown the Wong family restaurant is caught between local Tongs, the police and a mayoral race where anything could happen!
Description:
It’s September 1925 in New York City’s Chinatown. It’s just starting to get chilly out and school is about to start next week. Most of the population here is Cantonese. The locals have to deal with the annoyances of the local Tongs (even though they have mostly dispersed in San Francisco) and the overbearing police force (ugh, when will they stop asking for money). There’s also a shift in politics, as a vote for a new mayor is upon the town—newcomer Jimmy Walker is gaining popularity by focusing on workers’ rights and condemning white supremacy. The current democratic mayor, John Francis Hylan is trying to find ways to stop Walker from coming into power...by whatever means necessary.
-Content warnings: The supernatural, murder, ritualistic sacrifices, cults, racism from police (veiled), annoying gangs, lizards.
-Tone: Silly family dynamics, wholesome and funny with some scary moments.
