Imperial Japan hoped to draw the US Pacific Naval Fleet into a final confrontation by a surprise attack on Midway US island base (Operation MI). On 4 June 1942 07:45 Japan attacks the Midway US base on Eastern Island hoping to damage the three runway airstrips, destroy aircraft while still on the ground, seaplane hangar, and cripple air support facilities. If successful, the supply lines between the United States and Australia could be severed, thereby crippling the Allied war effort and opening the southwest Pacific to conquest. Get your planes off the ground to defend the base and deny Japan from capturing the airbase which supports the US capacity to wage war on the Pacific. Or, will you smash the capitalist dogs and bring glory to the Emperor, Japan, and your ancestors.
