It is a turbulent time in the Emerald Empire of Rokugan, where each of the Great Clans uneasily eyes the others, preparing for treachery or violence to erupt at a moment's notice. In these uncertain days, a group of noble youths selected to represent their clans travel to the village of Tsuma where they will celebrate Gempuku, the ceremony which will see them earn their Dai-Sho and the honor of being true Samurai. Each dreams of winning the Topaz Championship for themselves, and they are all wish to bring honor to their families and the Great Clans to which they belong. But not everyone in Tsuma has honorable motives.
