It's almost over. Berlin is on the brink of collapse. Your comrades surround the city, and move unmolested throughout much of it. Still the Fascists hang on like ticks. You should be in the reserves, but the Commissar has become obsessed with hunting Nazi super weapons. You've encountered plenty of 'war changing' weapons in the past few years and been less than impressed. What could possibly be different about this one?
This is the end. The army and Luftwaffe are broken. Most of your fellow defenders are old men or teenagers. The only hope lies in surrender. That, however, is not the Fuhrer's way. Hitler is determined to turn all of Berlin into his funeral pyre. You've heard rumors of a last resort weapon that may achieve that. The time for last resorts is now, and you fear the fanatics will carry out a madman's final wish. You must stop them from doing so.
Allied forces are pushing towards the Rhine. German positions are collapsing, and resistance is getting thinner and thinner. One stretch of the Rhine is different though. Patrols, recon aircraft and bomber formations all disappear when they cross that section of river. Command needs to know why, and fast, before Patton marches into a trap.

In Amber Clad made a blind jump following a Covenant cruiser on unknown trajectory. They came out of hyperspace in orbit of another Forerunner Halo. Captain Keyes gave the orders to disrupt Covenant operations, and if possible capture their Prophet of Regret. The Master Chief got the capture mission.
