Description:
Renaissance Adventures has helped thousands of children and teens develop critical thinking, teamwork, ethical reasoning, and other “21st century skills” through live-action roleplaying games. We want to share our insights toward creating a successful company that runs youth larps. With four full-time staff, 40+ seasonal staff, a product line, and the satisfaction of doing what we love and are proud of, our heart is to find others that have the same inspiration. This presentation gives an overview of our business model, how to launch this business in your community, and how to make it grow. You will receive example marketing material and an 80% discount on our game book. We hope to encourage independent entrepreneurs to launch their own larps in 2016, full- or part-time, with the support we offer (training, business methods, manuals, wholesale products, marketing templates, etc.).
We meet many individuals in this Industry. From customers, manufacturers, distributors & designers. Communicate and be heard in a professional manner by investigating best practices.
Teaching citations to students is a task normally given to visiting librarians. This workshop will demonstrate a new method for doing so that uses gaming concepts and narrative to engage students.

Playful Learning Part 1: The Unrealized Superpower Of Games
Summary:
We can learn to play, and play to learn. This session will look at the superpower of games and what they can do for you and your students.
Description:
We can learn to play, and play to learn. We’ve all come against that wall when students disconnect from the material we’re trying to teach. They struggle to find relevance in their own education, and we, as their teachers struggle to find inspiring and innovative ways to engage them. To ensure students are equipped with the right tools and skills to think, create, engage, and flourish in the 21st century, we have an opportunity to give them new opportunities to learn playfully — not just with the blocks from our own wonder years, but with powerful new games and simulations that engage and enlighten through experiences. This session will look at the superpower of games and what they can do for you and your students.
