The town of Solomon, Texas celebrates the day that crazy Mortimer Whitehall came into town covered in blood, dirt and sand. He had a blank stare and ignored everything else until he had a drink at the Crooked Cross Saloon. He told wild stories of lost gold and the passage to Hell. He then died (so the story goes). Each year since, the menfolk of the town celebrate by getting drunk with friends, wandering the desert and coming back to compete by telling the best story. This year, the stories will be much better.

The Quaking City of Crescent Cliff is one of one of the more interesting features within the shifting reddish-purple dunes of the Purple Planet's Wastelands. A desolate, ruined alabaster metropolis sheltered by a large glassy-black cliff, its mystique comes from accounts that the ruins change shape and move with occasional earthquakes. Inside, the PCs discover an outpost which holds a key to the frequent tremors and an enemy within its depths. As the party prepares to journey onward, they discover there is one creature they have overlooked. This adventure is designed for 4th level characters.
