In Back Again from the Broken Land, you play as small adventurers returning to your hometown after playing a humble but crucial role in the fall of Doomslord. The game begins after the great war with the Doomslord, and the the stories you tell with determine the details of the adventures you've had and the home to which you return. The game is Powered by the Apocalypse and inspired by the works of J.R. R. Tolkien.

You’re a motley crew with mixed motives. Sharpshooters, snake-handlers, homesteader widows... Desperados all. You all have two stats, Lover and Sinner. Use Lover to make human connections, to act with honor, to hold onto hope, to resist opportunities for vice, and for selfless acts. Use Sinner to do dirty deeds, to act with brutality, to lie through your teeth, to resist pleas for mercy, and for selfish acts. Will you claim your prize from the train, or be overcome, damned, or broken by the heist?
You are squires on the cusp of knighthood, venturing into the treacherous Bleakwood on a quest to prove yourselves worthy. What wrongs will you right and lessons will you learn along the way?

A Powered by the Apocalypse game of fantasy adventure, inspired by Arthurian legends, fairy tales, Tamora Pierce's Tortall books, and Magic: The Gathering's plane of Eldraine. The game is in-development from Cloven Pine Games. It uses modular playbooks where each character is created by combining two playbooks that form two halves of a heraldic shield, e.g. The Stag and The Anvil, or The Fox and The Oak.
