Just the year before you helped Robert, who is newly come into his knighthood and title, turn back Saxon raiders in the wake of the death of King Nanteleod of Escavalon. Your father is a married vassal knight of Salisbury, and has served that noble house long and ably. The pivotal event of your childhood was the Battle of St. Albans in 495, a great victory over the Saxon invaders that turned disastrous after King Uther Pendragon and most of his barons were poisoned in the subsequent victory feast, plunging the kingdom into an Anarchy that continues to this day.
