Late in 1943, the Allies have managed to stall the German advances, and hope to tip the balance in their favor. The US airbase Bluie-West-1 in Greenland has been instrumental in ferrying planes from the US and Canada to the European Theater of Operations. Intercepted transmissions indicate a German squad? expedition? is on its way to Greenland - whatever was in that transmission has the Soviets excited and chattering to the Allies HQ. Radar showed something for a moment, but during your aerial eyes-on recon flight you've seen nothing. Now a freak winter storm is bearing down on the base, and your half American, half native-Inuit recon team is in a race to get back before landing is impossible. You've lost contact with ground control, but as you make your approach, you see smoke and black flames rising from the base.

A Japanese jamming station may be operating somewhere among the hundreds of jungle-covered islands of Ontong-Java, and the Brass needs more information. The closest Navy presence is PT-243, assigned to the backwater of Motor Torpedo Base-5: hundreds of miles from anything. The time is now. A special operation for a special crew.
