This game is a miniatures-based combined-arms mass-combat game that uses all the units you know from Battletech. It is designed to let you play larger scale battles (many, many units) in a few hours or a smaller game much quicker. It is also miniatures-based, which means the board is not hexed like in classic Battletech and instead miniatures rules are used. Likewise, instead of using the 8.5" by 11" record sheet per mech that classic Battletech uses, the game uses a playing card size record sheet per unit (though these are often printed on one sheet of paper to save space and organization). This event will teach all of the basics of the game system so you can then feel confident to play on your own or in our other similar events.

Description:
Experience the Battletech Throwback Thursday event (played earlier in the day) using the faster-play Battletech Alpha Strike ruleset. Basically, this is a chance to replay such a big battle and come closer to playing it to total annihilation. For those who played in the standard event earlier in the day it is also a second chance at the scenario (perhaps to fix mistakes you make or play the other side). This classic scenario will be played using Alpha Strike rules but in the same team on team format that our old feature events use to be played as. Experience in the Alpha Strike format of Battletech is recommended. Alpha Strike Academy sessions (learn to play Alpha Strike) are available at the con.
All the sessions of this game are linked scenarios leading up to a final confrontation as the last session. Players don't need to play in all sessions but may want to if they want to see through the whole confrontation. This will use the Alpha Strike system of Battletech which means the game will be miniatures/terrain based (not hexed) and each player will pilot several units using the Alpha Strike cards (not standard Battletech record sheets). Units are expected to die very quickly so this large scale battle can be fought in a timely manner. Since this is a campaign style game objectives will be used to create a more tactical environment. Each block the board will reset so each block is a new portion of the larger campaign. It is recommend that players be familiar with Alpha Strike or have played in one of the Alpha Strike Academies prior to this event.
