A semi-cooperative historical game about the queer communities of 18th century London. Celebrate queer joy, but you may be tempted to change loyalties if you draw too much attention.
Description:
In Molly House, players take the roles of the gender-defying mollies of early 18th-century London. Host masquerades, cruise back alleys, and build community while evading moralistic constables determined to destroy your world. Players draft “vice” cards representing gestures, desires, and encounters condemned by the Society for the Reformation of Manners. Use them to organize festivities and create joy, but the same cards may lead to raids, arrests, and danger for Mother Clap’s Molly House. As pressure from the Society grows, some players may be forced to pay bribes or even become informers. Informers must secretly undermine the community without being discovered by their fellow mollies. Content Warning: systemic queerphobia, including arrest and possible execution. Players are never eliminated from the game, though their actions may affect final scoring
